How We’re Committed To Doing Better

Legacy Business: We teach our clients how to build a legacy business. A business that values and celebrates diversity, inclusion and equity. One that is designed to create success ripples and put hope, love, and joy into the world. A business that stands the test of time and continues to make an impact beyond the founder. A business that runs efficiently and consistently exceeds growth and revenue targets while subtracting tasks and responsibilities.

Personal

As the CEO and founder of this company, it is important to me that an entire section of our action plan be devoted to the steps that I will take to support social justice.

I want to be held accountable to myself, my team and my audience. So, here are the steps that I personally will take;

  1. I will be intentional about the events that I align with. I will not speak at any large industry events (digital or in-person) that do not have a 50% participation of BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ keynote speakers. I will be transparent with the host of the event about why I am turning down their invitation and will encourage them to take steps to improve.
  2. I will continue to “do the work” around personal growth, self-care, speaking up and taking a stand for things I care about. I will continue to make a conscious effort to consume content made by BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ creators.
  3. I will be aware of where I do my personal spending. I will seek out BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ owned businesses to make purchases of products for my personal use. And I will be sure to make an active effort to promote BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ owned companies as well.
  4. I will continue to seek out organizations that need my help. I think it is very important to be the change you want to see. So, I will continue to look for ways that I can support organizations that elevate the BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities.
  5. I will continue to hold space for conversations … even if they’re uncomfortable. Many people have those family members who do not feel as aligned with supporting social justice causes as we do. I am committed to having uncomfortable conversations with my white family members in an effort to educate them
  6. My gender pronouns are published. I have added them to my email signature, Zoom name, and social media accounts

Team

How TeamSunny will be taking unified and individual action;

  1. We will continue to make a concerted effort to hire BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ and build a safe and inclusive company culture where they can grow.
  2. We are committed to ensuring the people that we bring on to our team are aligned with our social justice priorities so that our company culture is always safe and respectful of BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+. We will include in job postings and interview questions steps that demonstrate the candidate’s commitment to social justice. Candidates will be deemed qualified based on alignment with these values and will influence our hiring decisions.
  3. We will continue to require new team members sign our Collaborative Agreement, which outlines our company values, standards, and commitment to social justice
  4. We will continue to prioritize our company value of radical accountability and encourage our team members to share their mistakes or misconceptions in an effort to learn. We will also continue to encourage our team members to share their wins in an effort to be celebrated.
  5. We ask all team members to share their pronouns on their Zoom names and in their email signatures
  6. We are committed to ongoing professional development on issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion on a quarterly basis

Company

  1. We are committed to telling people that we are an ally and committed to diversity, equity and inclusion work the moment they begin their interaction with us. We have included pronouns in our client application processes, we are asking for race/ethnicity information from new clients in our onboarding process, we share our legacy business definition on all marketing materials.
  2. We will continue to build an audience that is aligned with our values and commitment to social justice which will be reported publicly in our annual impact report.
  3. We will continue to release an annual impact report publicly that shares our progress on the aspects of this action plan
  4. We will continue to update all of our content to include more culturally responsive content. This includes; making sure that examples used for teaching inside of our programs are diverse examples, highlighting the diversity of our clients inside of the Facebook groups, and including BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ elements to our marketing and social media
  5. We are committed to creating an intentional plan for giving by the end of 2021 to support, join and participate in BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ organizations that help Women of Color navigate into the entrepreneurial space. We will continue with our regular support while we work to bring this more robust vision to life

We serve an incredible community through our programs and we are committed to ensuring our members feel safe, represented, and heard.
